Chichele Lodge - closed for refurbishment
Formerly a private Presidential retreat, Chichele occupies one of the most breath-taking sites in the Park. The original building have been transformed to create a spectacular 'turn of the century' safari lodge, yet designed to complement the natural surroundings.
Chichele Presidential Lodge boasts 10 air-conditioned, colonial style suites, built along the edge of the hillside, and thus allowing for magnificent views. Accommodation is all en suite, and is equipped with a mini-bar, mosquito nets, and hair-dryer. Air-conditioning, plush furnishings, a four-poster bed, and a luxurious bathroom might make you forget you're in the bush. The lodge also features an interconnecting room - perfect for families.
Meals are table d'hôte with a wide selection of tasty dishes. Meals may be served in a variety of locations - the luxurious indoor dining room, the scenic veranda and Boma area outside.
You can also relax in and around the swimming pool, which has excellent views of the surroundings.
This fascinating area is revealed on game drives, conducted in open vehicles. You will learn much from your guide, and have the chance to see the wildlife for which the Park is justly famous. There are early morning, and late afternoon/ evening drives. At night a spotlight is used, and you will have the opportunity of seeing many of the nocturnally active species.
You can also participate in guided walks, an excellent way of getting closer to nature, and learning more about the environment around you, and it’s not just the big animals that are fascinating - termites, dung beetles and chameleons all have their stories to tell.
